If your travel day leaves you tired, running late or short on daylight, an overnight stop before Seymour Arm can make the next morning easier. Choose the stop around your approach to the North Shuswap, then confirm the road and your final accommodation before continuing.

Start with the road, then choose the overnight stop
The established approach leaves Highway 1 at Squilax and follows the North Shuswap through Scotch Creek, Celista, Anglemont and St. Ives. BC Parks describes the road to Silver Beach Park as approximately 83 kilometres from Squilax, with the final 42 kilometres on gravel. That distance is not a promise of travel time or current road condition.
Use our Getting There guide and offline route map to check the route. A town that looks close across the lake may require a much longer drive. Do not use an unfamiliar forestry-road shortcut simply to make a hotel location seem convenient.
Three areas to compare
Chase
Consider Chase when approaching from the Kamloops side and you want to stop along the Highway 1 corridor before continuing toward the North Shuswap turnoff.
Check: the property’s exact location, next-day route to Squilax, meal options, check-in deadline and parking for your vehicle.
Sorrento and Blind Bay
Compare these south-shore areas if they fit the direction you are travelling or you want to spend a night in the Shuswap before heading north.
Check: the drive back to the established North Shuswap approach. Being across the lake from a destination does not mean there is a short road connection.
Salmon Arm
Consider Salmon Arm when it fits your Highway 1 journey or you want an overnight stop with time to deal with supplies before the remote part of the trip.
Check: the extra road distance to the North Shuswap approach. It is a separate community, not the same place as Seymour Arm.

- Final price: compare the total for the whole stay, including displayed taxes, fees and any parking or pet charges.
- Arrival: confirm late check-in directly with the property if your travel day is uncertain.
- Cancellation: read the actual room rate’s deadline. Two prices at the same hotel can have different cancellation terms.
- RV or trailer: ask about combined vehicle length, turning room, overnight parking and whether trailers are accepted. A room booking does not guarantee suitable rig parking.
- Route: save the property address and your onward route while you have a reliable connection.
When local accommodation is the better choice
If the purpose of the trip is several days at the beach, boating or exploring Seymour Arm, booking your main stay inside the community usually makes more sense than driving back and forth from a highway hotel. Compare Silver Beach Park, the local campgrounds and other accommodation through the local guide, then confirm directly with the park or property.
An overnight stop is a way to break up your arrival. It is not a substitute for a confirmed campsite, permission to arrive after campground hours or a guaranteed fallback when local sites are full.
Before leaving your overnight stop
Check current regional conditions, confirm your final destination and arrival instructions, fuel up, bring essential supplies and save the route offline. If weather, road access or your own condition makes the drive unsuitable, reassess before continuing.
