Things to Do

Things to Do in Seymour Arm

Seymour Arm isn’t built around attractions. Most people don’t come here with a packed itinerary. They show up, settle in, and the days start filling themselves in.

Beach & Lake Time

For a lot of people, this is most of the trip. Silver Beach alone can take up entire days without much effort.

Warm sand, shallow water, long stretches of shoreline. You’ll see families, floaties, people drifting in and out of the lake all day.

Early mornings are quiet. Evenings slow down again. Midday in peak summer is when things feel busiest.

Boating & Exploring the Arm

Shuswap Lake is massive. Over 1,000 kilometres of shoreline, and most of it isn’t visible from the road.

Once you’re on the water, Seymour Arm opens up differently. Small beaches, quiet bays, places you only reach by boat.

Houseboats are a big part of the area. You’ll see them anchored in coves or moving slowly through the arm, especially mid-summer.

Fishing

Fishing has always been part of life here. It’s not something advertised — it’s just something people do.

Shuswap holds multiple species including trout, kokanee, and burbot. Some people head out early, others just drift with a rod while the day unfolds.

It’s not about perfect conditions. It’s about being out there.

Hiking & Waterfalls

There are more trails around Seymour Arm than most people expect, but they’re not always obvious or clearly marked.

Albas Falls is one of the more well-known spots, but it comes with steep sections, rough terrain, and real risk if you’re not paying attention.

Seymour River Falls is another one people ask about, but access can be less straightforward than it sounds.

These are not groomed park trails. Expect uneven ground, changing conditions, and wildlife.

Backroads & Exploring

If you have a quad or just don’t mind rough roads, there’s a lot more beyond the main stretch into Seymour Arm.

Forestry roads branch out in multiple directions. Some lead to viewpoints, others to lakes, and some just keep going until you turn around.

This is the part of Seymour Arm that doesn’t show up unless you go looking for it.

Community & Events

Events in Seymour Arm aren’t heavily advertised. Most of them move through the community itself.

Things like farmers markets, music nights, coffee houses, and the Summer Sizzler baseball tournament all come together through the people who live there.

You don’t always plan around them. You hear about them once you’re there.

Winter & Snowmobiling

Seymour Arm doesn’t shut down in winter — it just changes.

Snowmobiles replace boats, and the same backcountry opens up in a completely different way.

Most people don’t come to Seymour Arm with a checklist. They show up, slow down, and fall into a rhythm.

That’s usually when it starts to make sense.
